Fucoidans are sulfated fucosylated polymers from brown algae cell walls. We assessed the inhibitory effects of Costaria costata fucoidan on UVB-induced MMP-1 promoter, mRNA, and protein expression in vitro using the immortalized human keratinocyte (HaCaT) cell line. Pretreatment with fucoidan significantly inhibited MMP-1 protein expression compared to UVB irradiation alone. Fucoidan significantly reduced MMP-1 mRNA expression and inhibited UVB-induced MMP-1 promoter activity by 37.3%, 53.3%, and 58.5% at 0.01, 0.1, and 1 microg/mL, respectively, compared to UVB irradiation alone. C. costata fucoidan may be a potential therapeutic agent to prevent and treat skin photoaging.

Has anyone tried the CACI Non surgical face lift. Does it work?
After much research and experimentation I found the following can work wonders at totally rejuvenating the face and if you see my Best Answers you will find glowing reports from users.
It’s a simple, safe, self massaging technique. Using a natural oil, massage quite strongly and somewhat vigorously over and over and with a forward and back motion using palms, finger tips and front and sides of fingers depending where on face you are massaging. Try to build up to a 20 to 30 minute or even more daily massage. A circular motion will not be effective. Depending on how vigorously/how long you have been able to do it, you will see noticeable results in 4 to 5 days and in 14 days will see even better ones and overtime quite profound results. You will be amazed at it´s effectiveness. FOR NECK: Use palms/fingers to energetically massage(one hand at a time) repeatedly from front to almost back of neck and back again. Do many, many times. Also the following are beneficial.
Find with library or Google search "Yoga for face/neck".or "facial yoga". Or go to TIME magazine website dated Thursday, April 24, 2008 enter "facial yoga." In SEARCH box click on "lion face" photo to see series of other photos. Do Lion face and one basically the same as it except you protrude tongue upwards as if trying to touch nose with tongue tip. "Baby Bird" is a also good for jowls and fat round chin. Hold poses for as long as you can and repeat several times.

Consider cheaper, alternative, natural, effective treatment methods to get the best care for and clear up your acne, zit, pimple or blackhead problem; and coconut oil is the best treatment I’ve found. Yes, you can do it — look better, feel better, and raise your self-esteem by getting rid of your acne cheaply, naturally and for good. While most forms of acne are merely troublesome or embarrassing, there are some forms of acne that can lead to scarring and pitting of the skin.
People of all races and ages have acne. Acne is one of most common skin conditions in the world, affecting more than 40 million people. Nearly 80 percent of people from ages 11 to 30 years have acne, most often on the face, chest and back. For most people, acne goes away by age 30, but people in their forties and fifties still suffer from acne.
Experts just can’t agree on what causes acne. Acne, zits, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and many other skin disorders are usually, but not always, the result of a bad diet. I think the cause of acne is related to our acidic, inflammatory ’standard American diet’ (SAD) and that would also influence all of our hormones including stress hormones.
Since the latest research indicates a connection between stress and acne, make an effort to cut down on stress any way you can. One treatment method some people have used is applying cornstarch, egg whites or milk of magnesia as a facial mask. When you wash your face use a soft touch, taking care not to rub or scrub your skin.
There are many natural acne home remedies; you may have to try several to find one that works best for your skin type. Shave carefully and try both electric and safety razors to see which works best for you. For the best acne treatment, which has worked for many, apply virgin coconut oil to the area daily; try it on a small test area for a day or two first.
It’s always best to seek non-invasive and natural treatment for any skin condition. Treatment with raw apple cider vinegar will work better on your skin if it isn’t already noticeably irritated from acne medicines, acne products or other failed treatment. No over-the-counter creams can help your acne from the inside out; they can only kill some of the bacteria on your face and help reduce the redness.
Besides acne, if you also have eczema or dry skin, coconut oil will treat those skin conditions too. Most commercial cleansers are harsh on the face and trying to find the right one for you could cost a fortune. You want to avoid squeezing, pinching, picking or popping your pimples because it can cause scars or leave dark spots on your skin.
Coconut oil is very inexpensive; it’s a good, cheap, natural home remedy. Coconut oil is one of the best, if not the best, treatments I’ve found for acne. Apply it daily, throughout the day if possible and at bedtime. Get the unrefined, unbleached type found at health-oriented food stores like Whole Foods or Wild Oats or order it online.
In any case, no matter what skin or acne treatment you choose, whether it’s chemical, drugs, alternative, or natural methods, changing your diet alone will be the best treatment you can do for your acne and you’ll achieve overall good health in the process. Drink lots and lots of pure, filtered water every day. Besides external acne treatment it’s even more important to work from the inside out too.
Some alternative doctors recommend eating a raw clove of garlic daily for acne; you can chop one up and add it to your daily salad! Whether you eat a natural diet of living fruits and vegetables or eat dead junk food, what you eat may have a direct or indirect affect on the male hormones which may or may not play some part in acne.
Eating fruits that are red or orange in color will help improve you skin health and help to prevent acne. Eat high-fiber snacks like raw nuts, raw seeds, fresh or dried fruit, such as dates, and figs. Use olive oil with a little very fresh flaxseed oil in your salads.
Drink plenty of pure, filtered water, a minimum of a quart a day. Eating foods with essential fatty acids are particularly important to people with dry skin or acne.
Now you don’t have to be one of the unlucky ones left behind because of a lack of knowledge. And you should be able to get rid of your acne, zits and pimples and their symptoms so it doesn’t reoccur. There are many acne products on the market today, some are good, some are cheap and some are not good or cheap; no one knows but you what will work for you.

I’m looking for a facial skin care line that can help with reducing scars and oily skin. I like products that have a routine (like cleanser, toner, etc.) Thanks!! ![]()
First u need a face scrub, i like st. ives apricot scrub to remove dead skin cells and help scares go away. then use a good face soap…. when your in the shower use the face scrub 1st, rinse it really good, then wash with soap, make SURE to rinse your face really well then pat dry. next you’ll need a oil free moisturizer, i know that sound weird cause you said your face is oily, but the reason your face gets oily is to moisturize its self, since most acne products dry out your skin, you need to put moisturizer that does not have oil to reverse the problem. do this all be for you go to bed. the in the morning rinse your face well and in a few weeks your skin will really start to improve. remember, any time you start a new skin care routine it will take you skin a lil to adjust so it my get worse be for it gets better. but I PROMAS!!! It will get better! also try to keep your hair off your face for a few days…dirt from your hair can get on your face and make you break out.

Secondary metabolites 5-acetyl-3beta-angeloyloxy-2beta-(1-hydroxyisopropyl)-2,3-dihydrobenzofurane (1), 5-acetyl-3beta-angeloyloxy-2beta-(1-hydroxyisopropyl)-6-methoxy-2,3-dihydrobenzofurane (2), espeletone (3), encecalinol (4), O-methylencecalinol (5), encecalin (6), sonorol (7), taraxerol (8), (+)-beta-eudesmol (9), and a mixture of beta-sitosterol and stigmasterol, were isolated from the aerial parts of Ageratina pichinchensis var. bustamenta. The antimicrobial activity of compounds 6, 8 and 9, together with derivatives 9a and 9b against the most important dermatophytes responsible for tinea pedis infection, Trichophyton rubrum and T. mentagrophytes, and against Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger were determined, showing that the three natural products were active against both Trichophyton species. Ageratina pichinchensis var. bustamenta is used in folk medicine to treat skin infections and wounds, and this study confirms that the n-hexane extract contains metabolites which are responsible for these utilities.

Lets face it… every skin care cream manufacturer is going to tell you their product is the best facial moisturizer. So, how do you figure out which one to get?
The best facial moisturizer should include natural oils, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and emollients. Clinical testing and careful blending of these natural ingredients is required to make a good quality skin cream.
Natural oils provide a seal over your skin, which helps reduce evaporation of water from the skins surface. However, care needs to be taken when evaluating ingredients on product labels. Be sure to avoid mineral oils that are commonly used in skin care creams because they are cheap. These oils tend to clog your pores, preventing them from breathing.
Good natural hydrating and moisturizing oils, anti-oxidants and emollients are:
Avocado Oil – a powerful anti-oxidant with vitamin E, omegas 3 and 9 and high levels of chlorophyll to improve health and vitality of you skin.
Grapeseed Oil – an astringent to help tighten and tone your skin, it also has great skin moisturizing properties.
Jojoba Oil – it contains powerful anti-oxidants to minimize oxidation and fight free radicals.
Macadamia Oil – it has a naturally high concentration of palmitoleic acid (40%). It is one of the most effective anti-oxidants; it penetrates skin quickly and is excellent for dry sensitive skin.
CoenzymeQ10 – CoQ10 in a nano-emulsion form Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. A powerful anti-oxidant. It can penetrate deep into your skin to enhance cell activity and hydrate dry sensitive skin.
D-Panthenol – a pro-vitamin rich in vitamin B5. It’s also a moisturizer, emollient and humectant.
Crodamol CP – derived from palm oil lipid. A nourishing plant based emollient and an ultra mild skin smoothing ester.
The best face moisturizer should also include special substances that can enhance and regenerate your very own skin cells. Look for these ingredients in your next tube of moisturizer:
Phytessence Wakame – extracted from Japanese sea kelp, it helps collagen and elastin fibers retain their glue. An anti-oxidant that can help inhibit the harmful enzyme hyalurondase that breaks down hyaluronic acid in your skin. It moisturizes and helps to heal irritated dry skin.
Cynergy TK – contains functional keratin that is capable of stimulating your very own collagen and elastin proteins to re-grow. This increase strengthening and thickening of your skin helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Finally, Using a product containing these excellent natural ingredients, will put you on track to obtaining the best facial moisturizer money can buy.
Visit my website, to see which natural safe cutting edge anti-aging, anti-wrinkle skin care creams, I now chose to use on my skin every day.
